# About Hamid, and How GongSpace Is Run

Hamid Jabbar writes GongSpace. He leads sound meditation, trains sound practitioners, and records [music on the instruments he teaches](https://gongspace.com/sound-bath-music/).

## From Music and Law to the Gong

Hamid went to New York University on a music scholarship and holds a Bachelor of Music from it.

Law came next: a Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law, then nine years of practice in California and Arizona. He has written that the degree shapes how he reads a study, and what he thinks a practitioner can honestly claim.

He started teaching through yoga, alongside the law. He is an E-RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance and co-directed the 200-hour yoga teacher training at Urban Yoga.

Sound came in 2012, and he has studied gongs and singing bowls since then, with flutes alongside. He trained under Don Conreaux and has kept studying, and what he teaches now runs from the gong to the human voice.

For over a decade he has led sound for company events, at resorts around Phoenix and Scottsdale, for groups of every size.

## What Hamid Teaches, and Where

He has taught sound since 2018. He teaches the science and practice of sound as used in meditation and sound therapy, and how to hold space as a sound practitioner.

The Sound Practitioner Training (Hamid's own course) is the whole of his Level I, online and self-paced: over 20 hours in 14 modules and 31 lessons, with a manual to keep. It costs $298, paid once, and carries 20 hours of Yoga Alliance continuing education.

In person he teaches [Level I](https://www.hamidjabbar.com/sound-practitioner-training/) and the advanced [Level II](https://www.hamidjabbar.com/advanced-sound-practitioner-training/), and he takes practitioners one to one in [Sound Mentorship](https://www.hamidjabbar.com/sound-mentorship/). Each is arranged on its own, with the details on his main site.

He records on the same instruments. [His albums](https://www.hamidjabbar.com/music/) are on the streaming services, and he talks about sound as a guest on podcasts.

## How GongSpace Is Run

GongSpace is Hamid's site, and it carries his name. It is owned by Hamid Jabbar PLC, his company. Every page is written from his own teaching and read by him before it goes up. Facts about other schools come from their own pages, each with the date it was read.

One of the trainings it compares is his own, the Sound Practitioner Training. That is why the footer of every page says so, and why every mention of the course names it as Hamid's own course.

GongSpace earns from two things. The first is the Sound Practitioner Training (Hamid's own course), sold for $298 through FreshLearn, the platform that hosts it, or $268.20 with the code a reader gets for [joining the GongSpace list](https://gongspace.com/join/). Links to the course carry a referral tag, so Hamid can see which enrollments came from GongSpace. The second is the [Soundtopia](https://www.soundtopia.com/?ref=hamid) link on the instruments pages, where Hamid's code JABBAR15 takes fifteen percent off.

The Soundtopia link is an affiliate link. Hamid earns a commission if you buy through it, at no extra cost to you.

Those two are the whole of what GongSpace earns.

## Where the Gold Sand Figures Come From

Each gold figure on GongSpace is a cymatics figure, the pattern sand makes on a plate that is ringing.

Scatter sand on a metal plate and sound it with a bow or a speaker. Parts of the plate swing and the lines between them stay still. The sand is shaken off the moving parts and settles on the still lines. Change the note and the figure changes with it.

A gong’s face is a round plate too. Struck, it rings in many of these shapes at once, each with its own tone, which is why a single stroke carries so many tones.

The figures here are drawn, not photographed. A short program takes two of the shapes a round plate rings in and lays one over the other. It then drops grains at random and keeps each one in proportion to how still the plate is where it lands, so the sand gathers on the still lines as it would on a real plate.

There are fifteen, each from its own pair, so no two are alike. The gold is taken from the light on a hammered bowl in one of Hamid’s photographs.

Hamid tells the longer story, from Robert Hooke’s flour on glass in 1680 to these figures, in his essay [What Sound Looks Like](https://www.hamidjabbar.com/sound-looks-like/#cymatics).

![Three dark round plates with gold sand. The first has six straight lines through the center and four rings, the second three lines and two rings, and the third the curving figure the two make together.](https://gongspace.com/media/art/cymatics-how.webp)

One figure taken apart. First the plate ringing in one shape, with six still lines through its center and four rings inside its edge. Then in another, with three lines and two rings. Then in both at once.

## How the Comparison of Trainings Is Made

The comparison reads each school's own course page, and every price in it links to the page it was read from. What a school says about its certificate is given as the school's claim, in its own words.

Hamid's own course sits in the same table as the others, marked in gold, and the rows run in order of price, lowest first.

The table is read again every three months, and the date on it moves each time.

To correct a fact, write to Hamid through [his contact page](https://www.hamidjabbar.com/contact/) on hamidjabbar.com, with a link to where the right one can be read. A school can write the same way about its own row.

The comparison was last checked on **October 12, 2026**
