How the Table Was Made

Twenty-two other programs were read on October 12, 2026, on the schools' own pages wherever those would open. Eight met every term and sit in the table beside Hamid's own course.

Each training meets five terms. It is taught online, at your own pace or from recordings. It ends in a certificate for finishing it. The school's own page shows its price for the course alone, in U.S. dollars, and states its hours or how long it runs. And the table takes one course from each school.

The rows run by price, lowest first, so no row is placed by opinion. Each price links to the page it was read from, as does each refund policy on a page of its own.

No school was asked to be in the table, and none paid. The links to other schools are plain links that earn nothing. Hamid's own course is here because it is one of the trainings a reader is weighing, and it is marked in gold so nobody mistakes it for another school's.

More From the Same Schools

The Sound Healing Academy follows its Level 1 with a Level 2 Sound Bath Diploma, $1,345.50 on sale against $1,794. Sound Medicine Academy also sells a 100-hour sound bath course for $1,270, a beginners' course for $450 and a gong course for $480. Seasons of Sound sells three certifications together as The Complete Path for $1,297. Mehtab Benton's other courses run from $245 to $495, and his mentoring from $295 to $795.

Read the Same Day, and Left Out

The Sound Bath Training Course was closed to enrollment, with no current price shown. YogaRenew's sound healing training sits inside a yoga library sold by subscription. The Shift Network's Gong Medicine, $349, gives a certificate for taking part in research. Healing Sounds' Harmonic Journeys ($197), A Sound Healing ($589) and Sound Wisdom ($497 a course) state no hours.

The Auster Sound Method is taught live, with no price shown. The Ohm Store's Gong School, $1,999, names no certificate. Two courses sold on Udemy could not be read on Udemy's own pages. The Vibrational Sound Association's online certification, $2,100, includes four singing bowls in its price. Two UK schools price their courses in pounds: the British Academy of Sound Therapy, and an online school whose Sound Therapy Diploma Course is £127.

What Each Column Means

Each cell gives what the school's own pages said about its course on October 12, 2026, shortened where they ran long.

TrainingThe course as the school names it, with the school or the teacher under it.

PriceThe course alone, with any payment plan the page offers. A sale price carries its end date and the price it replaced.

Hours and formatThe hours or length the school states, how the course is taught, how long access lasts, and any review of your playing the school names.

CertificateThe document or title the school gives at the end, in its words.

What the school claimsWhat the school says about outside bodies: a membership, an approval, a seal, or continuing education hours. Each is reported as the school's claim, quoted where it is short enough.

RefundThe refund terms the school publishes. “No policy found” means none turned up on the school's pages that day.

What a Certificate in This Field Is

Every certificate in the table is written and issued by the school that sells the course. It records that you finished the course and, at some schools, passed its assessment. Sound Medicine Academy says so on its own page: “Every sound healing certificate ... is a certificate of completion.”

The titles vary more than the documents. Four schools use the word Certified in a title: Seasons of Sound and SoundbathPlayer for what they give at the end, Yogamu in its course's name, and Sound Medicine Academy beside its certificate of completion. Each title is the school's own.

In U.S. law, the formal recognition of a school belongs to agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The FTC's guides for vocational and distance schools describe it as a school or program one of those agencies has evaluated and found to meet its criteria, and keep a state's approval separate from it (16 CFR 254.1). None of the nine trainings claims that recognition. The Globe Institute, a California state approved college, states that none of its programs holds it.

Yoga Alliance Continuing Education

Yoga Alliance describes itself as “a nonprofit 501(c)(6).” It registers yoga teachers and sets continuing education requirements for them. Its continuing education providers are, in its words, “experienced yoga professionals offering advanced learning opportunities.” Hours taken with one count toward a registered teacher's requirements.

Two of its published documents draw the line. Each provider agrees not to offer courses for continuing education credit “that have as a substantial component instruction in diagnosis or treatment of mental or physical health conditions.” Its yoga therapy policy restricts “any claim to provide yoga-related training or instruction designed to diagnose or treat mental or physical health conditions.”

Three trainings in the table claim Yoga Alliance hours: Hamid's own course (20 hours), Seasons of Sound (30 hours) and Mehtab Benton's Level One (no number given). Any of them can be checked by looking up the school or the teacher on yogaalliance.org.

In Hamid's experience, the screening reaches wider than the written policy. On his red flags page he writes:

“Submit an outline carrying therapy or healing and the system rejects it. I have tried.”

Questions to Ask a School Before You Pay

A school can answer each of these in writing before you enroll, and most answers are already on its own pages.

What Does the Certificate Record?

Attendance, a finished course or a passed assessment are three different things. Ask which it is, and whether anyone heard you play before it was given.

Which Outside Body Does the School Name, and What Did That Body Check?

A membership, an approval or a seal means what the body giving it says, so find the school on that body's own site. ISTA, which three schools in the table name, asks for 100 or 200 hours, and its page says “Submission of payment grants you use of the ISTA APPROVED PROVIDER seal for one year.”

Which Organization Stands Behind the Continuing Education Hours?

Ask the school to name it, then look the school up on that organization's own site. Yoga Alliance's is yogaalliance.org, and a body with a similar name is a separate check.

How Much of the Course Is Spent Playing?

Hours of video and hours with an instrument in your hands are different hours. Inner Sounds, for one, lists 50 hours of practice and 10 practice sound baths beside its 130 lessons.

Will Anyone Hear You Play?

Seasons of Sound gives feedback on two recorded sound baths, the Sound Healing Academy assigns a personal tutor, and Sound Medicine Academy's founder reviews homework. Hamid's own course gives students a way to contact him with questions.

What Must You Own Before You Start?

SoundbathPlayer requires a 30-inch gong and three crystal bowls. Hamid's own course asks for no instrument to start, and one is enough to begin with.

How Long Does Access Last?

Six months at Mehtab Benton's, a year at Inner Sounds, and with no end date at Sound Medicine Academy and in Hamid's own course. Seasons of Sound gives lifetime access and asks you to finish within 12 months.

What Does the School Call the Work, and Why?

Many trainings in the table use the name sound healing. On how a school should treat that name, Hamid's red flags page says:

“I would not want a training to ban the phrase. I would want it to spend at least ten minutes discussing why the term is problematic.”

Questions People Ask About the Trainings

Cost, length and whether you need a training at all are answered in the guide to what a sound bath training costs. The whole path is in how to become a sound bath practitioner.

Which sound healing certification is the best?

The table orders the trainings by price and leaves the weighing to you. Some readers care most about a teacher who hears them play, and others about the hours or the refund.

Is any online sound bath training recognized by the U.S. Department of Education?

None of the nine in the table claims it. The Globe Institute states that none of its programs holds that recognition, and the other schools name membership bodies and continuing education hours instead.

Why is Hamid's own course in the table?

It is one of the online trainings a reader is choosing between. It sits where its price puts it, marked in gold and labeled as his, and is held to the same columns as every other row, refund included.

Do schools pay to be listed?

No school was asked, contacted or paid, and the links to other schools earn nothing. The one training on the page that earns Hamid money is his own course, which he sells.

How current are the prices?

Every fact was read on the school's own page on October 12, 2026. Schools change prices and sales often, so check the school's own page on the day you buy.
